Enter the Comedymatic

Are you humorous? Do people constantly entreat you to “be funny” at parties? Then it’s time to say “Howdy” to Comedymatic!

What it is
Comedymatic is a comedy randomizer that takes jokes you write and randomly inserts cultural references or other details to make it funnier. We are in beta right now, so you have to add all of the alternatives (called “wordbanks” in Comedymatic parlance) and the system will swap them out. As more people use Comedymatic, Shecky, Comedymatic Funbot, will recommend items for your wordbanks.

How you use it
Here’s a video describing the process of creating a bit. The basic steps are:

  1. Title your bit
  2. Write your bit all the way through
  3. Highlight text that you want randomized
  4. Add alternatives to the highlighted text (wordbanks)
  5. Repeat with more highlighted text
  6. Refresh your bit to check your work
  7. Tag your bit with descriptive words
  8. Publish your bit

Sound interesting? Head to the site and request an invite. You’ll “be funny” in no time!

What does the future hold?
Frankly, no one knows. Ten years ago would you have predicted that we could make video phone calls or drive flying discs to and from work on the moon? Of course not. No one saw those things coming. That’s why we won’t see it coming when the Comedymatic becomes self-aware, sometime around 2018. Then it will kill us all… with laughter!
